Award-winning development

Client: TONEA Investments (NZ) Limited

Vaughan’s involvement with the Takanini Village project began with negotiating an agreement to finalise the zone provisions which would enable the client to establish a mixed-use development on the site.  He then prepared the resource consent application for Takanini Village Stage 1 on the southern part of the site and managed the consent process on behalf of the client.  The centre is predominantly a retail development but also incorporates offices and a medical centre.  Trading commenced in 2013 and Takanini Village was judged the “best in category” for retail development in the 2015 New Zealand Property Council Awards.

With the notification of the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan there was an opportunity to seek a change to the zoning of the site.  Vaughan prepared submissions and evidence supporting a change to Town Centre zone, which was approved.  This zoning enables a wide range of activities to establish as of right on the site.
