In 2010 North Shore City Council approved a private plan change application prepared by Vaughan to make consenting of new buildings on the Smales Farm site less of an ordeal. As a result, the preparation of the resource consent application for the B:Hive building – the first consent to be applied for under the amended provisions – was relatively straightforward. A positive relationship established with the Council, and senior staff appointed to process the application, ensured that it was processed without a hitch.
